In the world of legwear, the Bermuda shorts are that underrated second cousin with that awkward presence in the room, we can't make our mind up whether it's cool or just plain awkward. Not to be confused with the awkwardness of socks in Birkenstocks, that a) either require a distinctive lack of fashion interest or b) a distinctive amount of confidence to pull off and thereby making the rest of us start turning couch cushions to find matching socks. No. The Bermuda short is just a tricky one to wholeheartedly feel out, but with the recent years of a convincing culotte comeback, the leap is that bit smaller for a test-drive in Bermuda land.
On this particular day when I went out shooting with Maria near charming Covent Garden, I remember the sky all of a sudden opening up as if it was pouring a bucket of water over the city in galactic proportions. There was no escaping the pour, and me dressed in the two most impractical fabrics for rain - may I introduce suede and silk - I was a puddle dripping evidence of exactly what London is capable of, if it feels like it. And it so often does.
